Why we built it

Built by a rider who got stranded one too many times.

BonkCore started on the side of a road, waiting on a flatbed for a bike that gave no warning it was about to quit. The dealer scan tool that could have caught it costs $340 and lives behind a service counter, useless to the person actually riding the bike.

So I built the tool I wanted: one that lives on the bike, watches the CBR600RR’s known weak points on every ride, and speaks up while there’s still time to order the part.

Enzo Genovese, founder and engineer. I designed the hardware, wrote the firmware and the app, and assemble every founder unit by hand.

Which bikes are supported right now?

The founder batch is built and validated for the 2003-2020 Honda CBR600RR. That is the only bike we are committing to today. More bike support is planned after the founder batch. If you ride something else, add your bike to the list and we will tell you when it is ready.

How does it connect to my CBR600RR?

BonkCore plugs into the factory diagnostic port already fitted to your 2003-2020 CBR600RR, under the seat. No splicing, no cut wires, no ECU flashing. About two minutes, no tools, fully reversible.

What is the founder batch?

A first production run of 100 units for 2003-2020 CBR600RR owners at $30 off the list price. Founders get the first units off the bench and vote on which bikes we validate next.

How can it predict a failure?

It watches the drift, not just the current reading. Across every ride BonkCore trends charging voltage, coolant behavior, and sensor noise, then flags when those readings start sliding toward the patterns that precede the CBR600RR’s known weak points: a failing regulator/rectifier, stator, or coolant temp sensor. It is an early-warning signal, not a crystal ball, so it buys you time to check a part before it strands you.

Do I need a subscription?

No. The module plus the free BonkOS app covers live data, reading and clearing fault codes, the gear indicator, and a 7-day ride log with no subscription. Pro adds predictive failure alerts and unlimited cloud history.

When do founder units ship?

Founder units are expected to ship in late August 2026, in validated waves as each production batch clears testing. Charging now reserves your place in the queue and locks the launch price, and you can get a full refund any time before your unit ships. Every wave is announced to the mailing list first.

What data does the app collect?

BonkOS reads telemetry from your bike over Bluetooth and stores your ride history. On the free tier that history stays on your phone; Pro syncs it to your account so it follows you across devices. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t need your identity to run the diagnostics. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Will it drain my battery?

No. Standby draw is negligible: BonkCore sleeps when your bike does.
