Privacy Policy

BonkHQ (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates https://bonkhq.com, sells hardware products, including BonkCore and BonkPlate, and publishes the BonkOS mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, both on this site and in the app.

Information we collect

• Contact information, including your name, email address, and phone number when you submit a form, place an order, ask for updates, or contact us.
• Motorcycle information, including year, make, model, and other compatibility details you provide so we can determine fitment and product interest.
• Order information, including order status, purchase history, refund requests, support history, and related customer-service records.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card number.
• Technical information, including IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, and standard server or security logs. Mailing-list signups also store your IP address and browser user agent to help prevent abuse.
• Site usage and campaign information. Our own first-party measurement records which pages are viewed and which buttons are pressed, the campaign tags on the link you arrived from (for example utm_source), which ad platform’s click parameter was present (not its value), the site that referred you (its domain only), and your screen width. It uses a random identifier that lasts for one page load, and it does not store your IP address or browser user agent. If you buy, that identifier is passed to Stripe so we can tell which campaign led to the order. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not send this information to ad platforms. Nothing is recorded when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.

The BonkOS mobile app

BonkOS is the companion app for our hardware, including BonkCore and BonkPlate. It uses the following information and platform services to provide its features.

• Name and email address, collected when you create an account with Sign in with Apple or a passkey. Used to identify your account, sync your data across phones, and provide support. Linked to your account identity.
• Precise location (GPS), collected only while the app records a ride. Used to build your trip history: route path, distance, and elevation. Recording starts when your engine starts and ends when the ride ends. On Android, an ongoing notification is shown whenever ride recording is active.
• Vehicle telemetry, including engine RPM, speed, gear, coolant temperature, and battery voltage, received over Bluetooth from your BonkCore device. Used for the live dashboard, trip history, and diagnostics, and to monitor the health of your charging system.
• Device information, including your BonkCore’s or BonkPlate’s identifier and firmware version. Used for pairing, firmware updates, and support.
• Plate designs, if you use BonkPlate: the text and settings of the designs you create in the app and send to your BonkPlate over Bluetooth.
• Push notification token, if you enable notifications. BonkOS uses Expo's push service, which relays notifications through Apple Push Notification service on iOS or Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android.

Where it is stored. Trips, telemetry, and settings are stored on your phone. If you sign in, trip and telemetry data may also upload in the background and sync to our servers, associated with your account so they are available across phones. In guest mode, trip, pairing, and settings data stay local and we collect no account information.

Deleting your data. You can delete individual trips in the app at any time. To delete your account and synced data, open BonkOS and go to Settings › Account › Delete account. If you cannot access the app, email data@bonkhq.com. Deleting the app while in guest mode removes its locally stored data.

Sign in with Apple and passkeys support account sign-in. Map views use Apple Maps on iOS and Google Maps on Android; those providers may process map requests under their own policies.

How we collect information

We collect information directly from you through site forms, checkout flows, emails, and customer-support messages. Site forms submit to our backend at api.bonkhq.com, hosted on AWS EC2 with a MySQL database.

How we use your information

• To process and manage orders, purchases, refunds, and support requests.
• To provide BonkOS app features, including trip history, diagnostics, and cross-device sync.
• To determine product compatibility and improve our products and BonkOS.
• To contact you about your order, availability, shipping, and product updates.
• To send email updates when you sign up for them. We use order phone numbers for order and shipping contact, not marketing SMS unless you separately opt in.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, spam, unauthorized access, or misuse of the site.
• To comply with legal, tax, accounting, safety, and recordkeeping obligations.

Email updates and order contact

If you sign up for email updates, we may use your email address for product news and availability. You can ask us to stop by emailing data@bonkhq.com. We use the phone number collected with an order only to contact you about that order and shipping. We do not send marketing texts without a separate opt-in.

Who we share information with

We do not currently sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the business, provide the product, or comply with law. This may include:

• Stripe or other payment processors for payments, refunds, fraud checks, and receipts.
• Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, including AWS EC2.
• Expo, Apple, and Google to deliver enabled push notifications and provide platform services such as maps and sign-in.
• App stores and in-app purchase providers for BonkOS subscriptions and app distribution.
• Professional advisors, such as attorneys, accountants, insurers, or tax providers.
• Legal or safety recipients if required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, or security.

If we later decide to share personal information in materially different ways, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent.

International users

We are based in California, USA and sell worldwide. If you use the site or buy from us from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no cookies. It stores only your language preference in local storage under bonkhq-locale. Our measurement stores nothing on your device. Stripe may set its own cookies on its hosted checkout pages; see Stripe's privacy information for details about its checkout service.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to manage orders, purchases, refunds, support, product compatibility, legal obligations, tax/accounting records, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed.

Your choices and rights

• You can ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
• You can ask to stop receiving email updates.
• You can request a refund under our Refund Policy.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The site may be viewed by a general audience, but BonkOS is not directed to children. Purchases and paid services are intended for people who can enter into a binding agreement or have permission from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from children under 16 in the EEA or UK.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise stated.
